Tenuta Scrafana is a historic winery located in Montevarchi, in the viniculture area of Chianti and Valdarno, where today 20 of its 50 hectares of land are vineyards. The Tenuta has been around since ancient times, with its land walked by Mammoth in the Pleistocene, and with the name Scrafana whispered even by the Etruscan. Our wines speak of a passion and love for our land; Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet and Trebbiano grapes, fermented and aged in oak, amphorae, or cement, to express the very best of our terroir.

The names of our wines are inspired by people, ordinary folk or historical figures, that have made their mark on the history of Tuscany.

The company philosophy, founded on the use of environmentally friendly techniques, is particularly geared towards the attainment of high-quality grapes. A perfect blend of elegance and tradition, moving from the historic fermentation cellar to the new sustainable maturation vault, designed for quality wine production with a low environmental impact. Sustainability and biodiversity are the key words that form the foundation of our commitment and in order to guarantee the natural fertility of the soil. Using organic techniques, we are constantly looking for the perfect balance between technology and tradition.

The Maggioni family acquired the winery in 2017, starting a journey or renovation, by building a new cutting-edge cellar, planting new vineyards and improving both agricultural and vinification processes, and we are now working to expand our international market.
