The Lamborghini Estate is located in Umbria, between the southern slope of Lake Trasimeno and the beautiful medieval village of Panicale. It lies on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, Cortona and the Val di Chiana being only a few tens of kilometers away.

The company was bought by Ferruccio Lamborghini in the late 1960s who, while traveling in these areas, fell in love with the harsh and sweet landscape at the same time.

Ferruccio hadn't wanted to be a farmer when he was young. Although his father had a farm and he wanted him to work with him, Ferruccio had "ideas of inventions" and a great passion for mechanics. We all know what he has created in his life but few know what happened in Panicale in 1968, when he bought the Estate: Ferruccio felt a very strong and inexplicable call to the land and, above all, he realized he was back to basics, agriculture.

From that moment, having abandoned the famous automotive business, he worked personally and without stopping in the Estate, enlarging it, planting vineyards and making it become one of the most modern Italian wine-growing companies for that time.

The total area is 100 hectares, divided between a 9-hole golf course, a resort and the 38-hectare wine-growing area.

Initially different varieties were planted with both red and white grapes: in addition to the classic Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo, it was decided also for more unusual varieties for those years, such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

In the mid-90s Patrizia Lamborghini took over the management by continuing and, indeed, strengthening, her father's ambition to produce high quality wines. Since then most of the vineyards have been replanted preferring vines such as Sangiovese, Merlot and Grechetto. To date, the new vineyards of selected clones extend over 34 hectares but the company program of the current property provides for the renewal of the entire vineyard area.

The extreme search for quality, the desire to highlight the characteristics of the territory and the precious oenological conduction of Riccardo Cotarella, have generated a radical change aimed at the production of wines of the highest quality level.
