At Gippsland Wine Company we are passionate about crafting exceptional wines from boutique vineyards. Our mission is to create beautiful, handcrafted wines that reflect the unique terroir of Southern Gippsland. We believe in sharing the joy of wine with others and fostering a sense of community around our passion.

Gippsland Wine Company (GWC) is a small, award-winning wine producer based in the tiny tourist village of Loch in South Gippsland, Victoria, a leisurely hour and a half's drive south-east of Melbourne. Established in 2010, vigneron Mark Heath and partner Jane Taylor grow premium fruit on small parcels of land in our local area, nurturing previously abandoned vineyards back to life and to flourish. We work with our wine-making partners crafting the fruit into wine that we are proud to share, wine that shows the terroir of our soil and the cool climate of our beautiful South Gippsland region.

The vineyard at Loch was planted in 2004 on a sloping, northerly-facing aspect, with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The vines 1.5 metres apart and traditionally cane pruned to achieve optimum quality fruit. GWC maintain five other local vineyards situated in South Gippsland providing Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. This is supplemented by Syrah, Viognier and Riesling grown by our grapefriends throughout Gippsland. The distinctive wine labels of GWC pay homage to the vineyard sites where the fruit source originates.

Mark has had extensive wine industry experience in all aspects from production, to sales and marketing over the past 50 years, Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, and the Yarra Valley before venturing into his own vineyard. Gippsland Wine Company has developed a strong wholesale business, selling wine to local businesses in South Gippsland, and to bars and restaurants in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. Retail sales are predominately through the cellar door, e-commerce site and wine club.

With many gold and silver medals, and trophies awarded over the years, 2024 saw Gippsland Wine Company's 2023 Loch Village Chardonnay receive a high gold, Best White Wine, and Best Wine in Show at the Gippsland Wine Show, the GI region's premier event. This wine is now a contender for the prestigious Victorian Premier's Trophy Award to be held in June 2025. Mark and Jane were also delighted to receive the Silver Award for tourism in the Victorian Tourism Industry Awards.
